Layla likes spending time with family and friends, Mexican and Filipino food and can hardly wait to go salsa dancing on the weekends! She has been with us since 2021 and enjoys the guiding people through their orthodontic experience.
Carmen likes spending time with her family and crafting – she is super creative! While in school, Carmen fell in love with the orthodontic field and is eager to learn and grow in the profession.
If you’re looking for Zoe, listen for live music – good chance you’ll find her there! If you strike out there, your next best chance is on a hike with her 4 legged BFF Oakley or at Crossfit PFS. Zoe has been with us since 2020 and loves learning from Dr. Payne.
Jenny loves the ocean, game nights with family and is a great resource for new restaurants downtown. Plus, she LOVES Harry Potter! She has been with American River Orthodontics since 2002, having joined the team immediately after earning her RDA from Sacramento City College. In high school, Jenny watched the girls in her Orthodontists office while she underwent treatment. They had so much fun doing their job! This sparked Jenny’s interest in the profession and she has excelled ever since. Her favorite thing about this line of work is the variety of patients, helping both children and adults. She also likes being involved in changing people’s lives for the better.
Octavia enjoys cooking, spending time with her kids, road trips and hosting game nights with friends and family. Octavia fell in love with orthodontics in high school while going through treatment. She completed her RDA program in 2013 and worked as an orthodontic assistant for 3 years before transitioning to the front office. She enjoys meeting new people and connecting with patients, especially our younger patients. She loves kids. Her favorite part of her job is being able to learn from and work with such an amazing staff. And to see all the amazing smile transformations.
Cheryl has a special place in her heart for animals and dedicates a lot of her time and resources to rescue-related causes. She enjoys working out and eating out, entertaining loved ones and anything outdoors – including hiking, golfing, and jet skiing. Cheryl first became interested in Orthodontics while going through treatment herself around age 14. In 1991, Cheryl attended Douglas College and became a Certified Dental Assistant. By 1993, she was a Licensed Orthodontic Assistant through the University of British Colombia and became a Registered Dental Assistant in 2003. Cheryl has been running the front office and creating a comfortable, family atmosphere at American River Orthodontics since 2006. She loves to see the before and after experience of happy patients.
